MARY KIRKLAND

they/she

When I was little, I spent a large part of my time in our backyard where it sloped down to meet the forest edge. My sisters and I would pretend to be Boxcar children, living out of the woods and empty train cars. They were focused on what adventure would come next, but all I ever wondered was how our world would work: how did we eat, drink, sleep? What would we use? What would that look like?

My curiosity about the world around me expanded when I began drawing. Development of the stories I created was just as important as the plot, and it bled into an ambition for learning about geology, archaeology, history, and even weather patterns. I pour all of this into my art and stories, diving head-first into the magical things I can create with the tip of my pencil.

A little about what I use to draw! I highly recommend these products to anyone looking for digital painting tools and tablets.
